The LA County Office of Education hosted students and teachers from around LA to participate in a Video Teleconference with students and teachers from Bogota, Colombia. The 90-minute live video teleconference covered issues of democratic government, civil rights, and learning about each other's schools and interests.

World History students in period 2 conducted their first deliberation on the question: Should there be compulsory voting in the United States? The class is participating in the Deliberating in a Democracy in the Americas project. Later this fall selected students will also join in a live videoteleconference with our partner schools in Bogota, Colombia. The purpose of the project is to promote civic education and cross-cultural awareness.
